It remains today in the world only four "Singeries" allotted to Christophe Huet who was charged of the aristocratic mansion embellishment.
Paintings of Christophe Huet having belonged to Madame de Pompadour, give a report on representations of pheasants, parrots and other animals in landscapes.
Its taste for the chinese and exotic decoration, incarnated by peoples Chinese and illustrated by monkeys in the animal kingdom, is spread over the European royals court in echo with the recent discovery of Chinese civilization that the missions of the Jesuits since the 17th century bring to know thoroughly.

THE LARGE ONE (1737) AND THE SMALL SINGERIE (1735) TO THE CHANTILLY CASTLE.
The decoration of this living room is composed of monkeys and Chinese, and is typical of this taste which spread over the start of the 18th century, under the French Regency and at the beginning of the reign of Louis XV. An exemplare specimen of the pleasant French genius of that time.
THE CABINET OF THE MONKEYS OF THE HOTEL OF ROHAN (BETWEEN 1749 AND 1752)
Old oratory of the cardinals of Rohan, the cabinet of the Monkeys is a perfect example of the art of these decorations of Chinese inspiration in XVIIIth century. To the bottom of pastoral and gallant scenes painted on wood panels, bran facetious monkeys, while flowered ornaments, insects, birds decorates like grotesque antiquity and of the "Renaissance" period, the lower register of the panels.

Our set counts six sights in which one finds monkeys musician, dancer, funambulist, reader. They wear coloured clothing; they are presented to the center of a frame with ornaments and arbesques. The soft and subtle colors illustrates the decorative taste of XVIIIth century. For a cushion the "Petit Point" on canvas, in other words "St Cyr stitch", is highly recommended.
